Two gigs in one day

3 June 2018

It was a busy day for the choir on Sunday June 3 and we came through with flying colours. 25 choristers performed under grey and chilly skies at the annual Bomber Command Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in the morning. Many moving speeches were heard including from a 94 year old Bomber Command veteran Max Barry who was shot down over France in 1944 and became a prisoner of war. ARC President Bob Nield was honoured to lay a wreath at the ceremony on behalf of esteemed senior ARC member Bob Newman who was unable to attend. Bob's parents provided hospitality and time out for Australian pilots during World War II and Bob has always cherished this connection. In the afternoon many choristers doubled with a healthy 27 singing at the Brumbies-Sunwolves game. It was good to see the Brumbies show a return to form and score some memorable tries.
