ANNUAL FUNDRAISING CONCERTS
Treasurer Rick believes that all loose ends have now been accounted for and that the final profit from the concerts is $8,517.60. Quite a benchmark to maintain and improve upon as it was a truly superb effort by everyone, especially by Mick Rice and the team of sub-committee workers.
ANNUAL DINNER
Congratulations to all who were able to attend the dinner last Friday night. Reactions and comments were uniformly positive and all seemed to have an enjoyable night. Our invited guests went away very impressed which can only augur well for the future.
Patron Ian McLean rang me personally to express both Lyn and his thanks for a great night. I have received a number of comments about the inspiration and appropriateness of the address from our Patron was received from members and partners.
I must apologise for neglecting to formally thank and recognise Eddy Stevens for his superb job he did once again in organising our recognition dinner. In an effort to make amends, I have emailed him while he is away in Sydney for a few days with Franca. I hope that I may be forgiven for such a gaffe.
LONDON PRACTICE
Next Sunday the 27th November we will meet at the Southern Cross Club, Woden. The second tenors at 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm, and the remainder of us from 4:15 pm to 5:30 pm.
Saturday 3rd December SOUTHERN CROSS CARE
Please place your name on the gig sheet for Christmas Carols. This gig is at 7 Boake Place, Garran, 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm, the uniform is Polo shirt.
MUSIC@MIDDAY
Please add your name to the gig sheet if you can make these times. Tuesday 6th December, assemble 9.30 am, Green Room backstage entrance, Canberra Theatre for warm-up and rehearsal with RMC Band before Performance 1 at 11.00 am, Performance 2 at 12.30 pm. Normal indoor uniform is the dress of the day.
Repertoire is Speed Your Journey, Our Cities Face the Sea, National Anthem and We Wish You a Merry Christmas (as led by Major Geoff Gray).
Please note that food and drink left in the Green Room is NOT for the ARC. There has been confusion about this in the past but, on this occasion, it has been made clear to me that the goodies are made available by the Canberra Theatre for the Band in recognition of their efforts throughout the year. Geoff asked me to emphasise that this largesse does not occur after every M@M, only at the end of the year.
Our Last Two Practices
Our final two practices for this year will be held upstairs at Woden Tradies in the Bingo Room. It has been reassuring to note the expressions of appreciation for Lucy Bermingham as stand-in for the MD so far.
Please practice the two pieces for M@M plus last the segments from Pemulway and Who Wants to Live Forever. Our final practice session is the night of the Tuesday 6th December.
STREET CAROLS
But, the following Tuesday 13th December, as has become something of a tradition in recent years, we will have Street Carols at the house of Liz & Gordon Fyfe. Assemble at 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm at 10 Faithfull Circuit, Kambah. Polo shirt uniform plus brown hats if you do not have a Christmas hat or Santa hat, etc. Again, put your name on the gig sheet. Liz & Gordon supply the song sheets and put on a good show afterwards for members who can stay.
