7 October 2024
On Monday, the week began with a good turn up for a wonderful "Capital" evening of Singing in the Pub in the "Howling Moon" Roof Top Bar at the Rex Hotel, with the Australian Welsh Male Choir.
It was a great night singing some of our favourite songs, including Tshotsholoza, World in Union, Calon Lan, Gwahoddiad and of course, the rousing Yma O Hyd!
The Australian Welsh Male Choir had their last official performance on their AWMC tour before returning home to Choirs practice location at Baxter on the Mornington Peninsula.
Then on Saturday, we all travelled to Belmore Park Goulburn for the 73rd Lilac Festival. For some choir members they were returning to where they grew up and for a couple who had previously performed in the rotunda.
Once again, the October winds blew a few ties and microphone muffs awry. Thanks to our Brumby hardened sound system our harmonious voices weren't lost to our audience.
Shilong and Karen ran us through our old standards I Am Australian, I Still Call Australia Home, My Country, Hallelujah a great crowd pleaser. Our ever faithful, When I'm 64, Shelter, Stouthearted Men, You Raise Me Up, Shine On Me, and crowd clapping Every Time I Feel the Spirit.
We are looking forward to returning next year 2025 for the 74th Lilac Festival.
