What a great night was had by all starting with the huddle in the south east corner. Game plan was set, numbers exchanged to assist the keyboard player and vocal chords warmed by the freshly shod master apprentice we all trooped through the stalls to stand tall on the steps ready to work the crowd that had gathered around the display of cars from the 24th Summer Nationals.
From the ranks of three were coaxed the Friday evening's harmonies by our steadily improving one and half winged director. With a final burst of Reilly's Daughter rounded of by Flash Jack From Gundagai, we then ventured into the forecourt of the Canberra Stadium. The outdoor four part harmony, I Am Australian had the crowd in a cigarette lighter waving moment.
We maybe did not have the straight out horse power but come a round of Proud to be Brumby the voiced harmonies were well under the control of "look at me" and the hand. The competition was tough but from the corner of my eye I saw the occasional rye smile from passer bys.
After a steady set of accompanied tunes on the western entrance, it was time to test the crowd at the eastern turnstiles. To brighten our evening a round of Baby Face for our past patron David Lewis pull the a crowd of Chief supports. Crowd control was regained with an impromptu round of Chiefs Farewell sprung from the ranks.
The evening song was finished at the western end with some more rounded harmony as the crowd increased. Choir support increased as the start time neared. Whiskers crooned a passer by with a verse from "Let It Be Me" much to the amusement of a few onlookers.
A great night was had by all, so see you at the next home game on the 10 April when we play the Cheetahs. www.brumbies.com.au/
