The trip was in response to an invitation from the Catholic Priest at St Patrick's in Boorowa - Father Greg Beath - who just happens to be related to the Rice family. We were invited to sing at a special St Patrick's Day Mass to welcome to Boorowa the incoming Archbishop of Canberra and Goulbourn. It was a great experience for the choir to sing to a full congregation at this very fine church. The Mass was followed by a fine feed at at the Recreation Club, before we provided musical entertainment to the Parish Dinner - part of the welcome to the Archbishop. We then made a brief - but memorable pit stop at the 'top pub' - where Mick Rice, Rod Mackay and various other members impressed all with their command of sundry Irish songs, including of course, 'Danny Boy' - led by Des Grayson.
The choir warmed up for the Boorowa gigs with a performance en route, at the Linton Lodge Retirement Village in Yass.
A fine days singin' - to be sure!
