Our repertoire included a number of songs that we performed publicly for the first time - Stout Hearted men, This little Light of Mine, Be still my soul (Finlandia), Myfanwy, You'll never walk alone, and the Song of the Jolly Roger. The latter was marked by the public debut of Polly the Parrot and a blood-curdling 'Aaaaaaargh!' rendered by Whiskas Kentwell. We also performed Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful Pie Jesu, and our own favourite from the 2005 Opera House program - American Trilogy.
We were delighted to secure the services of Major Geoff Grey, Musical Director and Officer Commanding the Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon as Master of Ceremonies. The choir has the privilege of performing regularly with the RMC band at the Australian War Memorial, and will be performing in concert with the Band at Narooma and Bateman's Bay in two weeks time. It was great to have Geoff's thoughtful and well-informed commentary.
The Gospel Folk added colour and movement to the Concert with their distinctive rhythms, and Credo delivered their usual sweet harmonies. All three groups took the stage for a rousing Finale comprising three well-known songs - I am Australian, Guide me O thou Great Redeemer, and Calon Lan.
President Alastair Crombie thanked key people and distributed bouquets and bottles of Australian Rugby Choir 10th Anniversary Port before everyone was invited to enjoy the fine supper.
