Australian War Memorial Gig
Normal uniform, brown hats, blue spray jackets at the ready and blue folders for tomorrow, Friday 14th October, 1.30 for 2.00 pm ceremony for HMAS Vendetta.
It is vital that we have as many members in attendance as possible please to ensure not only the usual credible musical performance for the occasion but to provide an impressive backdrop for the photo opportunity to be had with the Director, Major-General Steve Gower.
Steve will join with us after the ceremony for photos to be taken by the AWM photographer for use by both organisations. Your committee is endeavouring to refresh and update the photographic record of the choir and for more meaningful promotional material for the choir in the future.
Friday 4th November
The Tradies, as one of our major sponsors, is asking for our support in their sponsorship of the Woden Community Festival week. So please put your name on the gig list.
Together with the ARC, Woden Valley Youth Choir and Credo will also be performing. The Canberra College Jazz Band will be the fourth participant.
Friday 18th November
Please add your name and wife or partner to the gig sheet for our annual recognition dinner. More details later of course but cost will be $40 per head.

The Patron Award will be presented again this year and Robert Macaulay will again act as Returning Officer for conducting the voting by members. Robert will be providing information about the award and procedures in the near future so please start considering who you believe is a worthy recipient this year.
Uniform Blazer
I hope that everyone enjoyed wearing their blazer today. If you have already done so, remember to attach your name or other means to identify your blazer to others.
Members Welfare
Ken McInnis unfortunately has lapsed back into serious illness. He collapsed at home last Sunday and has been in ICU at Canberra Hospital under heavy sedation. I spoke with Ken's son Todd at 7.00 pm tonight.
Ken woke from sedation this morning, the respirator has been removed and he is breathing on his own and looking much better. He will be in ICU for some days yet before being moved to a normal ward.
Currently, no visitors are possible and Todd has been advised that visitors in the ward will need to be limited. So please await further advice about that.
Todd said that when Ken woke and after he learned what had happened and where he was, requested Todd to contact the ARC to apologise for not being able to participate in today's concert. I think we accept his apology.
Ken must be on a road to quick recovery. Todd and his sister will be at the concert on Saturday. All much better news than we were thinking earlier this afternoon.
Phil Gallagher has had another altercation with a ladder and knocked himself around quite a bit. He will be out of action for 6-8 weeks.
Learn to make peace with those ladders, so far ladders have attacked two choir members this year.
Just for Fun
Warren Whittaker: The Water is Wide [YB207]; Our Cities Face the Sea; Let it be Me [78]; Amen (This Little Light of Mine). Please organise your music folders so that you can access those songs next Tuesday night.
Regards
Neil
