Last Week of April Choir Training & Commitments
Please plan well for the week after next. As Easter Monday is also Anzac Day also remember that during that week we have these commitments:
Monday 25th Anzac Day 9:15AM assembly behind Simpson's Donkey, as per normal to warm up and distribute booklets, ready to be seated on main parade ground by 9:45AM at the Australian War Memorial
Tuesday 26th training night at the Tradies warm ups starting 7:30PM
Wednesday 27th 1:30PM assembly for a 2:00PM start at the AWM Western Courtyard for the 1st Australian Field Hospital Plaque Dedication Ceremony
Saturday 30th 1:30PM assembly for a 2:00PM start at Hughes Baptist Church for the mission fund raising concert.
CHANGE OF PRACTICE VENUE & TIME
Please let me or any other committee member know what your thoughts are about the recent change of venue to the Tradies Club. Remember that we have also reverted to 7:15PM for 7:30PM start with a 9:45PM finish.
The club has also asked me to make clear to members that access to our storage cupboards and filing cabinets is only after prior arrangement with Ms Kim Knight at the club and should be limited to our Repertoire Committee members Mick Rice, Ian Johnson, Peter Cole or Rod Mackay.
The next committee meeting will be 10th May by which time we will have experienced 5 weeks at the new venue and should have encountered most teething problems to work through.
The Tradies has asked me to let you know that they have introduced a Pasta & Pizza night all you can eat for $16.00 on Tuesday evenings. Perhaps you would like to eat prior to practice.
Wollongong Regional Tour
Max Brennan has distributed information about the Wollongong regional visit with the Arcadian Lamplighters on the weekend of 21-22 May. You need to make your own contact with the hotel to take advantage of the group booking deal as well as making your own way to Wollongong.
Annual Fundraising Concert
I am calling for expressions of interest from members to assist with the organisation of this year's concerts Thursday afternoon, 13th October and Saturday afternoon, 15th October. The Thursday concert designed for the Aged Care industry residents as well as the Saturday afternoon concert for the general public. Several committee members will be involved of course.
Thanks to those members who have already come forward. Please contact me if you can help in some way.
By now everyone has had a time to consider your work and diary commitments and endeavour to be available for BOTH concerts that week to assist in our own fundraising.
Antarctica Conference
Note that the date has been changed from 28th June to Saturday 25th June times and precise details still to be confirmed but probably in the evening.
Sib files have been distributed by Andrea, via Geoff Ford, for the proposed songs. Continue to practice from these please.
Life Membership Policy
Recently, your committee approved a slight change to the wording of one part of the policy. The wording will now read, after the heading "Process for assessing applications for Life Membership" as follows:
"A nominator SHOULD NOT approach the member they propose for Life Membership. Initially, nominations (together with a seconder) for Life Membership should be forwarded to the President for consideration by the committee."
All other wording in the existing policy remains the same.
Annual Retreat
Your committee has tried to provide a significant lead time to enable you to plan your commitments accordingly. Our Retreat weekend has been booked once again at Goulburn Conservatorium for 17-18 September.
Choir Promotion
The hard copy versions of the flyers were available last Tuesday; however the former venue is printed. Timings of ordering, printing and our recent move did not quite coincide unfortunately.
Try to remember to update latest venue details when you hand out a hard copy version. Geoff Ford has prepared and stuck on correction stickers on the remainder of flyers. Brilliant job thanks Geoff.
Music and Folder Indexes
Remember to purchase your London Gig books as these are available from the desk when you pay you nightly subs or during the brew break.
Please attend to your music folders following the Repertoire Committee work in rationalising previous indexes. Revised indexes have been emailed and distributed to all members.
Uniform
An error was listed in previous Warbles regarding the cost of the taupe trousers. The actual cost is currently $44.95 not $42.50 as previously advised.
Remember
All these files and this Warble are available on the website.
